In 2014, I got elected as the Action Club President!
I'm looking forward another successful semester to follow as Spring 2015 semester ends and transitions into Summer school. School is a lot of responsibility, time, effort and it takes a lot of energy to stay motivated; it's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it. It's a lot of homework and dedication to be successful in achieving my Associates degree. I am also excited to see if I pass my Math 88 class, I will officially be in Math 90!
No matter what people say, I still work my butt off every single day.

May 7th, 2015
I had a somewhat good and bad week this week, beginning May 4th, because I literally had to do some stuff on my own at the last minute because when I told someone to do it, they didn't follow through. So when I found out, I had only a certain amount of time to get it done and my classes are almost finished for the Spring semester.

About
Laura
My
best friend is Laura because she is a hard worker and will not give up until
her task is done. Laura is bilingual and she grew up in a Mexican family. When
she turned sixteen her mom brought her across the border so she could start
working. Also, she makes sure everything is spotless everywhere. If something
does not fit in the closet she makes it fit. Laura makes herself available and
she figures out a way to do stuff. For example, if my chair is broken she
figures out a way to fix it. Laura is also a good cook. She cooks all of the
different types of Mexican food such as Mexican rice and home-made tacos. She always dresses up nice, and she’s always
up to date with the latest fashion.
When
I first met Laura it was in Santee. One of the most memorable times I had with
her was when I found out that she had a visa I didn’t know that she was going
to work for me until three days later and then that week she took Samantha and me
to TJ for one whole week. As we were crossing the border my dog had barked and
the security guard shined his flashlight towards the back of the vehicle and
Samantha popped her head out the back window. The security guard had asked what
kind of a dog was in the back of the van and I said, “It is my service animal.”
Some of the things we did in Mexico were that we went to parties, hung out with
friends and family..
I
was upset because I had no one to put me in bed and I called Laura. She was
already there at my house. They were looking for someone to take Beth’s place
and 3 o’clock shift the next day. I had asked Laura that I wanted a meeting
with my case manager. I told Beth that Laura was doing all the work so I had to
hire someone else. I had asked Laura if she would be willing to work full time
for me and it turns out she had been working eight years for me. It will be
nine years to current times. If I asked for a ride to the bowling alley or the
hospital she would figure out a way to bring me from point A to point B. If it
wasn’t her, I wouldn’t know what to do without her. Her kids also help when and
if it is needed with me. Also, she had taken me to the Price Is Right, Knott’s
Soak City, and some other places without asking. She also has had helped me
move from Santee to San Diego where I currently live. When we have a problem, we
talk to each other about them and discuss how we are going to work it out. We
also put heads together and try to see if we are able to fix a problem without
our coordinator. If somehow we can’t figure out how to solve the problem in
time, we ask her family if they have an idea for a solution. Then after the
problem is finished, she realizes that she makes the problem seem like a big
deal.
In conclusion, my best friend Laura is an exceptional person because she is hardworking and also very creative in solving problem.

Dear Ellen DeGeneres
Dear
Ellen,
I watch your show every day, my name is
Richard D. German Junior. I am entering the contest for an accessible van
because I have a difficult time getting around in my community. I live a very active life in San Diego and
getting back and forth to my many doctor’s appointments, college classes,
baseball games, etc. is extremely challenging for me.
I was
born with cerebral palsy. I have many
medical issues and rely heavily on others to help me with my day to day
activities. I have a physical
disability, but my mind is sharp and because of this it is hard to have to rely
upon others for help all the time, my own vehicle will make me feel more
independent.
I am
very active in the community. I have
been attending Community College for 7 years and I’m nearly done with my
associate’s degree. I love to attend
baseball games. I enjoy helping out at
church, meeting new people and can be relied on for helping others in
wheelchairs navigate the trolley and bus system. I have many friends and family
but unfortunately using public transportation after dark in my neighborhood is
not safe. I can always be counted on to go above and beyond for my friends and
family. I have actually gotten tickets for using my wheelchair in the bike lane
trying to get to and from people’s houses!
I am on
disability, so there is no way I will ever be able to afford to get a new van
by myself. Is there any way you can help me? Please.

Introduction To My Life...

I am very active in the community. I have been attending Community College for 7 years and I’m nearly done with my associate’s degree. I love to attend baseball games downtown. I enjoy helping out at church. I enjoy meeting new people and can be relied on for helping others in wheelchairs navigate the trolley and bus system. I have many friends but unfortunately am unable to do actives with them in the evenings since I am in a power wheelchair. Using public transportation after dark in my neighborhood is not safe. I can always be counted on to go above and beyond for my friends and family.
I like to spend time with my family but unfortunately my mom and dad’s home is not close to any bus routes. They also do not have accessible sidewalks and I have actually gotten tickets for using my wheelchair in the bike lane trying to get to and from their house! It sounds funny to get a ticket in a wheelchair, but it happens because driving on the street is unsafe for me and the other vehicles.
I had a van in the 1990’s but it broke down and was impounded. Because I am on a limited income I was unable to get it back and afford the repairs. Since then I have relied only upon public transportation.
I am on disability, so there is no way I will ever be able to afford to get a new van by myself. Is there any way you can help me? Please.
